About PLAATES

PLAATES reads licence plates from your device’s camera. It detects a plate in the image and estimates its characters on your device. Review important reads yourself: lighting, motion, distance and plate condition can affect accuracy.

Working offline

Scanning runs on your device. After the app and its models have loaded successfully and been cached, you can use the scanner without an internet connection. The first visit requires a connection, and offline availability depends on your browser retaining the cached files. If a required model has not finished downloading, reconnect and reload the app.

Your records

Captured records are kept in this browser on this device. PLAATES does not upload scans or records to its server. You can export or clear records from the scanner. See Privacy for storage and retention details.
